St Mary’s C of E Primary School

‘Learning for Life’

Pupil Leadership Groups

We have many pupil groups across our school. Read on to find out more about the opportunities for leadership across the school.

Junior Leaders

Digital Leaders

Eco Leaders

As Eco Leaders, we are committed to making our school more environmentally friendly. After our initial meeting, we decided that our main areas of focus are: reusing resources, single-use plastics and keeping our community tidy. We have created our action plan around these three areas, which you can see below. This will be evaluated and updated throughout the year.

Peer Mediators

Collective Crew

As Collective Crew, we are responsible for promoting our Christian vision and our school values of Kindness, Courage and Trust around St Mary’s. We help to lead and evaluate Collective Worship and have links with our local church. Last year, Collective Crew developed ‘The Peace Place’ and this year we are looking to improve it further by developing our Peace Pod!

Librarians

Our role as librarians is to promote a love of reading in our school. We help to keep our reading spaces organised and calm spaces to enjoy a book. We have also been working hard to make sure there is a good range of books for all of the children to read, showing them new authors that are similar to the ones we know we love! We are excited to help run World Book day, the Book Fair and our Author Visit this year.

Tranquility Team

This year, the Tranquility Team and Collective Crew are collaborating to create calm spaces around our school grounds for the children of St Mary’s. Whether pupils seek moments of reflection, a connection with nature, or simply a quiet place to unwind, these calm spaces are being designed to cater for their needs and provide them with opportunities to nurture their spirituality. By working together, the Tranquility Team and Collective Crew are dedicated to creating an environment that promotes tranquility and well-being for all.

Sports Crew

This year, the Sports Crew completed their Bronze level training. During school, they help to raise the profile of PE and physical activity across the school, by running fun and engaging games and activities during lunchtimes. Some of their other responsibilities include setting up equipment, assisting in delivering PE lessons, and helping to run activities on Sports Day.

Play Leaders

Wellbeing Champions

This year, they completed training to help them become leaders of wellbeing for their peers. Their aim is to help children to gain support for their mental health and wellbeing. Their roles include auditing the sensory boxes in each class and creating resources linked to the 5 Ways to Wellbeing. Throughout the year, they will also lead assemblies and a wellbeing-themed Life Skills session.
