‘Learning for Life’

This year our Eco-Committee are focusing on the topic of ‘Biodiversity’ and have lots of great ideas for how we can increase biodiversity in our school and raise awareness. Please see our action plan for more information.

We were lucky enough to have a local bee keeper come in and share his knowledge and work with bees. It was a great opportunity to learn more about bees and how we can help to look after them. See below photos from our assembly:

Grace, a member of our eco-committee, also wrote a lovely poem about bees to share with the rest of the school during our assembly:

We would also like to say a huge thank you to Jasper’s Grandad who has very kindly built and donated to the school two lovely bird boxes which you can now see up on the trees by the back gate near KS1:

At our school Christmas Fair, we held an Eco-Stall which was selling Christmas decorations made from recycled cardboard. We made the decorations in the shapes of different animals we felt linked to Christmas such as polar bears and reindeers. At the stall, people painted and decorated their choice of template to then take home and hang up on their Christmas tree. We were pleased to raise £42 which we will use to support us in reaching our targets on the action plan. Thank you very much to everybody who supported us.
